The 23-year old have surpassed legendary swimmer Mark Splitz, who held the previous record of most gold medals won in an Olympic at seven, 1972. Some credits would go to fellow American Aaron Peirsol, Brendan Hansen and Jason Lezak, who teamed up with Phelps in the match.
